

Beginning of Chapter 1
Coos Bay, Oregon
Something darted across David’s bedroom—a quick, silent blur. He jerked upright; breath locked in his throat. No way that was just a trick of the eye.
He slapped on the lamp.
And froze.
A woman lay beside him. A beautiful woman. A faint bluish tint glowed around her as she rested on top of the quilt, her head on the pillow he never used. Dark hair spilled across the sheets. Her eyes were closed.
He lived alone. No one should be in his house!

Beginning of Chapter 1
Coos Bay, Oregon
“There’s a Bigfoot at the end of the road. He’d like nothing better than to murder me.”
Tawny frowned at her fiance. “Josh, you're being silly. Bigfoots don’t exist.”
“They do!” Josh leaned forward, nose nearly pressed to the fog‑smudged windshield. The pine‑scented air drifting through the cracked window stirred his hair as he squinted at the deserted dirt road. “I saw one when I was a boy. She tried to clobber me with a tree branch!”
